Thurs 3rd July. Another trip over the water to France for a few days, I
decided to go to Disneyland Paris again on the 1400 with my wife staying in a
etap hotel across from Val d' Europe. True to form, just minutes before we set
off for our trip the rain starts, which turned out to be a quick but heavy
shower and dries up just as quick as it came. we set off from home and travelled
down the M1, the further south we got the blacker the clouds became, which we
seamed to dodge quite well until we hit the M25 and we hit rain for about half
an hour or so, once we got to the Dartford crossing the roads dried up and the
sun came out and on to the M20 to the Channel Tunnel terminal. We entered France
and stayed in a B&B Hotel in Coquelles, a cheap cheerful budget hotel chain.
Friday Morning we set of for Disneyland, arriving at the hotel in Val d' europe
mid afternoon I then got straight on the hotel internet and got on MSN messenger
to see if a forum member Jacek was online, he was and I told him I was in Paris
as I knew he lived just south of Paris. Jacek wanted to meet up and got his
address, put it in the sat nav and went over to meet him. Jacek unfortunately
had a very serious accident in November '06 and has been unable to ride his bike
since. He was very happy to meet up and I was only sorry I couldn't have spent
more time with him as he was a real great guy, it was a pleasure to meet you
Jacek!
Saturday my wife and myself spent the day in Disney, Sunday it was time to
head back up top Calais, for a change we kept of the motorways and stayed on the
local roads all the way up to the coast at boulogne, we the went up the coastal
road (D940) up to calais, the D940 is a stunning little road. the weather stayed
fine but got cloudy and windy toward the coast
26th May 2008
Again very little on the ride outs this month, apart
from the local bike meets when the weather has been good enough. from 24th
to 26th May me and my wife Wendy rode to France for the Bank Holiday, riding
also to Bruges, Belgium and Sluis and Breskens just over the Border in Holland.
we did a total of 650 miles. I've now fitted a Givi Rack and 45L top box for the
ride to France over the bank holiday, ok it kills the looks of the bike but it
more for convenience as it is so easy to get on and off the bike compares with
the oxford tailpack.
27th April 2008
I've had very few rides out on my 14 this year,
earlier this month I had a ride upto Squires Cafe, a bikers cafe near Leeds
(Yorkshire), nice hot day, I took up a couple of friends who hadn't been before.
4th
April 2008
I've bought a Private Plate for my 1400 ending in "GSX",
the "FE56" number plate is no more!
Now the clocks have gone forward the bikes nights have started around where I
live at the local pubs which I have gone to

March '08, No rides outs since last month, My wife had an operation late
February so we are unable to ride out on the bike. I have bought a Yoshimura Tri
Oval can for my 14, I quite like the Tri Ovals cans, I like the Dual Ovals but
wanted a Yoshi can a bit different to the "norm", the Tri oval has removable
baffles although it is second hand, Ideally I would have liked a full Yoshi
system but funds won't allow. Hoping to get out on the bike towards the end of
the month. I've got a couple of photo's now I got the Tri Oval fitted to my 1400.
I like the sound of the Tri Oval with or without the removable baffles in. The
baffles are out at the moment, not quite as loud as I expected, it is a really
deep sound, the sound does alter with the baffles in but not that much
quieter but higher pitched tone. My wife will more than likely want the baffles
in as she is not that keen on load exhausts.
10th February '08 First decent ride out this year! I did
about 100miles today seeing as the weather was good, over 12°c in February,
couldn't miss a day like that. we finished off in Matlock, Derbyshire close to
were I live, Matlock is big biker town on the weekends throughout the summer
months, today may as well have been a mid summers day due to the turn out, I
have never seen so many bikes in Matlock, absolutely packed out with bikes, I
should have taken the camera out with me.
My first big ride of the year 24th-26th may, I booked the channel tunnel and
booked a couple of nights at B&B Hotel Coquelles.
January 18 2008, I've not rode my 1400 only starting it every
couple of weeks, the place where I keep my bike is damp in the winter and is
really taking it's toll on the alloy bits, on the 2 engine casings and rocker
cover the "polished" lacquered bits are corroding under the lacquer, it is
really annoying that a 1 year old bike is ageing so quickly.

I traded in my GSX1400 K2 in December 2006 for a GSX1400FE (Final Edition),
I took delivery 9th December, I'd always wanted a new 1400, I liked the 4 into 1
exhaust system with the Yoshimura end can. The 2006 K6 blue/white colours also
looked a good colour scheme. The Final Edition of the K6 model has a Dual Oval
Yoshimura catalyst exhaust can, and also has a special edition graphic marking
the final edition. I had a blue fly screen thrown in on the deal as this reduces
wind blast considerably, also I paid
for a Datatool System 4 cat 1 alarm to be fitted.
Feb '07 The FE's first 600mile service, Bike has been running A1
so far.
I fitted Clear indicators, I like the clear indicator look, and not a
familiar sight on a 1400 so it does look different! I also fitted a "Euro
GB" reg plate, with www.GSX1400FE.co.uk
logo. I also got a "final edition" oil cooler guard after I bought first cooler
guard.
March / April '07, March was spent finishing running the bike in, and getting
some long day runs, April was a good month with the weather being unusually hot,
so we managed to get out on the bike a fair bit. I bought a pair of reservoir
caps with GSX1400 engraved in them.
May '07, After getting just over a couple of thousand miles on
the clock around the UK, I decided to take the Final Edition over to France for
a weekend around Calais and get a few miles on the clock and a trail run for my
big ride to Spain in June 07. A few days before we set off for france the bike
fired up and kept cutting out and misfiring, not ticking over, then cleared
itself, Strange. A few days later we set off, it rained heavy through the UK and
the bike ran ok. we got off the channel tunnel in France and arrived at the
hotel, then the FI light came on!! Then it wouldn't restart!! it was late about
00:30hrs in the morning, I gave the ECU connectors a spray of WD40 and it
started. The next day it ran great, The day after it was time to go home, we
made our way to the channel tunnel, and guess what, FI light came on, misfiring
and cutting out, I didn't thing we where going to make it it was running that
bad, we virtually boarded the channel tunnel on the starter motor it was cutting
out that much, soon as we parked up on the Tunnel train stripping down the bike,
I had under 45 minutes to sort the problem and get the bike back together.
Fortunately I found the problem after 15 minutes, The main block connector for
the fuel injection system on the left hand side panel, it was stretched around
part of the frame and routed wrong and the connector not making proper
connection, I rerouted the loom so that it fitted better and problem solved.
touch wood it has run perfect ever since.
October '07, I've managed to get out on the FE a couple of times,
I did a run to the coast to Skegness one Sunday and was an excellent day, blue
skies and sunshine. The bike ran like a dream, I'd missed being out on the bike.
A week later I also met up with a few guys from the GSX1400 owners club in
Matlock, 4 1400's riding in a line (and a guy on a VFR came along for a ride) to
the Cat and Fiddle pub in the peak district on the Derbyshire/Cheshire border
between Buxton and Macclesfield. Some excellent roads on the cat and fiddle
route, very twisty roads and soooo much fun!!
December 31 '07, I've not rode my 1400 since mid October, as I've
not had chance (poor excuse I know!) but on new years eve I finished worked a
couple of hours early, got home and switched on my computer, my desk top
background is a photo of my 14 (yep, I'm a sad git and proud of it lol) and
thought sod it, I've really been itching to get out on the big gal and so got my
baby out, bless her she fired straight up after over 2 months being stood, what
a little beauty! warmed her up a few minutes on tickover and she was raring to
go. heated grips on and off we went for a "quick blast", I had missed the rush
you get when you rip open the throttle, the feeling of your arms being ripped
out of the sockets on acceleration, oh yeaaahh!! not many things in life feel
this good!
