My old Suzuki GSX1400 K2

GSX1400, Power to the People!

GSX1400 Pure MuscleThis part of the site is about my old GSX1400 which I owned from May '05 to December '06, registered in 2002 .
I previously owned a 600 bandit in which I was fairly happy with except that I craved for more power. The GSX1400 is very well suited to what I want from a bike, plenty of power no matter what revs you are at or what gear you are in. It will pull in any gear from tick over with very little effort and pulls like nothing else on earth, the amount torque is remarkable. The bike itself  is very excellent, light years ahead of my old 600 Bandit in terms of comfort and rideability.
The handling is very good, but you do have to treat it with great respect and remember that it is not GSXR , it is hard to "throw around" tight corners, as it is a very heavy bike, though it will corner very well on long sweeping corners to the point of scrapping the foot rests with out even trying to. The1400 is fuel injected and on throttle bodies (which provides plenty of big grins when you wind the twist grip open) and as any petrol head knows it is a lot of kit for the price you pay for the 1400. IGSX1400 Instrument panel thought I would miss the Bandit but the 1400 is a much better bike.

So, After just a short while of riding the GSX1400 I knew that I had made the right decision to get one, it was such an improvement on the bandit 600, the difference between the two is unbelievable. I was extremely impressed how comfortable it was to ride, though the weight does take a little getting used to especially in busy towns. Out on the open roads the bike is in its elements, and is like a wolf in sheep's clothing with its retro styling of late 1970's / early 1980's muscle bikes, combined with latest technology of electronic fuel injection and running throttle bodies to give hi torque pulling power that is out of this world, enough to make anyone grin from ear to ear!
After getting used to such a heavy beast, you feel how could you ever better yourself if you wanted a different bike, ahh, but would you want a different bike for this kind of price range? to be honest I don't think you can find a better bike for the money.

My GSX1400 in John Carr Motorcycles

I bought my 1400 from John Carr Motorcycles in Alfreton, Derbyshire. A small independent bike shop, I'd been popping in and out looking for a 1400 for about a year for one at the "right price" and there she was being wheeled into the bike shop about to be put up for sale, it was a K2 blue and white one which was exactly the one I was after. The mileage was a bit higher than I'd hoped for but the price was definitely right, I had planned to sell my Ford Focus and buy a 1400, but never got around to it, I wanted the bike so I took a very big gamble, I put a deposit on the 1400 and hoped I could sell the car within 2 weeks that my deposit held the bike for, it was close and I did it, so I am the very proud owner of a GSX1400

I bought my 1400 for the purpose of my long time dream of riding from Derbyshire, UK going down through France into Spain. It is something that I've wanted to do for a number of years, I did take my Bandit to northern France in June 2004 and I have to say my wife Wendy and I really enjoyed it and inspired us to go further a field sometime in the future. We love a good ride out on the 1400, although apart from being a naked bike and the wind blast, I couldn't ask for a better bike to do what I want with a bike.
